Allegro becomes a patron of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw

Allegro has joined as a patron of the MMA in Warsaw. As part of a partnership started in April, the company will support the museum for another year.

The museum is undergoing rapid changes as its final location at Plac Defilad in Warsaw is currently under construction, scheduled to complete in Q4 2023. Meanwhile, it continues to host exhibitions and educational events at its temporary venue known as the Museum on the Vistula. At the same time, the MMA is actively engaged in relief efforts for Ukrainian refugees and is working on events and exhibitions that will be displayed in the new building.

The whole museum team is currently working in two modes; on the one hand, we’re focusing on the near future, including the exhibition by Aleksandra Waliszewska slated to open at the beginning of June. On the other hand, we’re also occupied with the new building on a day-to-day basis and we’re busily preparing to open the MMA at Plac Defilad. In a busy time like this, the support we’ve been receiving from Allegro is especially valuable to us. This will give us more freedom to implement our programme and work to expand the group of our regular visitors.

Joanna Mytkowska, Director of the MMA

Allegro is a platform where customers can find not only categories such as fashion and electronics but also rare pieces of art. Graphics by Pablo Picasso, Wojciech Fangor and Edward Dwurnik or paintings by Ryszard Winiarski and the Kossak clan are just some examples of the objects that can be found in the Collections & Art category on Allegro. The Collector’s Zone offers works of art from renowned galleries, auction houses and antique shops, as well as numismatics shops and authorised gold, silver and diamond dealers.

We are really happy to have the opportunity to support the MMA, one of the most distinguished institutions in Polish art. We would like our actions to make Allegro’s name as not only one of the largest marketplaces but also a patron of the arts. To this end, we’re working with the MMA, partnering with this year’s edition of Conrad Festival in Kraków, releasing Archipelag Allegro, a series of podcasts hosted by outstanding creators, and holding Allegro Prize, an international competition for visual artists, the third edition of which has just started.

Jacek Weichert, Segment Director at Allegro

As a patron, Allegro will support the statutory activity of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, which includes presenting important trends in Polish art of the 20th and 21st century and putting them in the international context, as well as building up a collection of modern art. The company will also support the Museum’s numerous education and publishing projects. However, most people associate the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw with the Museum on the Vistula, i.e. the temporary seat of the MMA, which hosts exhibits and accompanying events. In recent years, the most popular events held at the venue have been the exhibitions, including “The Beguiling Siren is Thy Crest” and “140 Beats per Minute”. Rave Culture and Art in 1990s Poland”. Another event that has built a loyal fanbase is the annual WARSAW UNDER CONSTRUCTION festival. The 14th edition of the festival will take place this autumn, focusing on the notion of the city street, transport, architectural and transport transformations in the history of Warsaw and more.
